Lipoosteocartilaginous choristoma of the tongue: a case report

Introduction: Choristoma is the proliferation of histologically normal tissue in ectopic position. Oral choristoma infrequently occurs soft tissue, with most cases developing on tongue and displaying osseous histological findings. It mostly encountered fifth decade life, but age ranges from 12-to-64 years old, a female predilection. Observations : An 81-year-old man presented an asymptomatic, firm, mobile pedunculated nodule right dorsum tongue, just anterior to circumvallate papillae, for more than ten duration. Microscopically, lesion was covered by parakeratinised stratified squamous epithelium central lamina propia, large, calcified material that resembles bone cartilage observed. The basophilic mass appears rounded characteristic rim reversal lines contains numerous lacunae osteocytes. Peripherally, chondroid metaplasia also seen evidence mature hyaline containing chondrocytes. whole osseous-chondroid surrounded adipose tissue. Conclusion rare entity, mixture cartilage, considered exquisite finding. Generally, it has benign behaviour, surgical excision treatment choice. No recurrence been reported.
